I’ve Caved-in to Twitter

I was against the idea for ages, but for some reason I've decided to start using it. Twitter was one of those things that I didn't see a need for. Now I can.

I'll be using it to keep track of ideas I have for blog posts as well as other things that I need to get done. If you feel like tracking me or joining me in a conversation, please feel free to add me to your follow list.

I've put a mini-feed of my thoughts in the sidebar (which currently only appears on the index page - need to fix that). Don't worry, I won't be clogging this blog's RSS with my twitters. It drives me mad when other people do it, so I refuse to do it myself.

I’ve already got my MSN “personal message” and facebook status (which I can set from my phone if I really want to). I don’t think I need any more!

Well I’ve heard that argument from a few people (MSN, Facebook, etc), but the problem with all of those is that those people need to have accounts themselves to see what you’re up to.

With Twitter they can read an RSS. Besides, Facebook and MSN don’t have a history like Twitter does, and this is what makes it more valuable – you can post ideas and go back and find them later. Saves you from having to type them into a meaningless blog post
I’m setting up the screencast stuff for the Unity Build post now. Hope to have it done by tonight before heading to bed.

Can’t argue that you need an account to see it, though I think that’s an advantage. I don’t want every man and his dog reading what I’m up to. I guess Twitter must have privacy options, but I haven’t looked into it.

I agree with Jamal. Not just that, but if you don’t want people to know what you’re up to then don’t post it Simple.

I wouldn’t be one to put up personal stuff that I wouldn’t be prepared to have the world know. It is the Internet after all, and nothing is 100% secure

Speaking of subscriptions and RSS – could you separate out the delicious (insert the dots yourself) links from the main site feed? I’m interested in the articles, but not so much in the links. Having two feeds would be better I think.
